X49 'ELECTRA' SCRAMJET Specifications
21 March 2003 Draft, Millennium Twain
(typos? -- please send us your corrections!)

Whoa! We finally have the very first draft (and, again, very)
preliminary ElectroAerodynamic design specifications of the X49
ScramJet StratoLiner -- henceforward named the X49 Electra? X49
Exxelerator? ElectroSlider? ElectroJet? [Send us your name ideas!!]
And ditto, regarding the Earth's 1st 'Electroshell', 'Ionoshell' -- Electrogravitic Aeroshell design, name and illustrations!
For the X49 'mass-fraction' specs -- vehicle, fuel, passenger,
mass/volume/velocity numbers -- click on the ElectroShock graphic
below, third image on this page, or journey boldly to unamity.com/specs ...
. . . world's first public publication of an airbreathing 'ScramJet' (HyperJet, SpaceJet, PlasmaJet) SpaceLiner design!!
The above sketch, X49 'ElectraScram' Vortex Engine Topology, shows one
of the two Rammed-Air inlets -- 'nostrils' -- on the nose of the X49
FireShip. The rammed-air flows in a spiral (helicoid) down the nozzle,
which will shrink to pressurize the air for injection into the
combustion chamber. In addition to compressing the atmosphere, the
RamScoop funnel will electrically condition, or charge the air. It will
place a highly negative electrostatic charge on the air -- in this 1st
preliminary design -- by having a high negative voltage on the
helicoidal vortex chamber walls.

The combustion chamber helicoid, which follows AFTER the
compression chamber helicoid, is intended to act as a 'valveless
pulsejet'. A vortex diode. That is, it will receive the injected
compressed charged rammed air at a node in the helicoid wavelength. The
node and injected compressed air, and side-injected hydrogen fuel, will
act as a virtual (or plasma) wall or valve -- blocking the return flow
of plasma after ignition of the oxygen (from the air) and hydrogen!
The ejected exhaust, high velocity reaction mass, is pure (hot, electrified?) steam!
Further -- to complete the 'circuit -- the injected hydrogen will
ALSO be pre-charged. Charged with a high positive voltage! In this way,
the plasmajet or electrojet rocket engine is not only valveless -- it
is electrodeless. [You can search for other discussions of the
plasmajet concept using the keywords pulsed plasma detonation wave
engine, pdwe, and similar ...]

The Ignition/Combustion Vortex Chamber is also illustrated below,
in simplified form, along with the Atmosphere Pre-Charging and
Compression (Scram/Hyper-jet inlet) -- in one long multi-wavelength
helicoidal tube which is the whole of the Hyper/Plasma propulsion
assembly. In order to illustrate the concept of the amplitude nodes and
anti-nodes, and the Injected Air Compression, and the Vortex Diode
(Valveless Flow Direction Control) -- in order to show all of that
simply, I have illustrated the multi-wavelength helicoid as a series of
cones! Two cones represent one-half wavelength of the helicoid, i.e., a
combustion chamber. One cone, large opening towards the trailing edge
of the stratoliner, represents the thrust nozzle. One to three, or
more, cones could represent the atmospheric air inlet, compressor, and
pre-charger.
This illustrates, clearly, the next design aspects we have to tackle.
How much reduction in helicoid amplitude -- in the
compressor/pre-charger -- do we require in order to condense the air
sufficiently for combustion in the burner/rocket chamber? How much
reduction in amplitude in order to achieve the Vortex Diode valve
action? Will we require the ability to vary the size of the air inlet,
the mouth, in order to increase atmospheric consumption at high
altitudes, or reduce it for high Mach numbers? To vary it with pressure
and velocity.
Can we just 'build-in' to the aeroshell the largest mouth/nostril
openings required, and then shunt off extra flow under the belly of the
Fireship, in order to minimize L/D loss?

So; the broad questions we have for our colleagues and collaborators
now are: 1) Where should we be going -- in scramjet engine topology,
injection, charging, pulsing or continuous thrust -- in order to
achieve a long life-time vortex diode (valveless) engine system? 2) In
order to make the simplest, most reliable, and throttleable ignition
system -- long lifetime or low replacement costs, with unlimited engine
on/off capability -- how can we make the best use of our knowledge of
common-sense plasma physics and vortex dynamics? Your suggestions are
now being heard, shared, and incorporated in this X49 'ElectroScram'
design!
And, in addition to contributions on the X49 FireShip naming, we are
looking for collaborators to share their design graphics, for posting
at FireShips and Unamity. ElectroGravitic, AntiGravitic, or
ElectroAerodynamic design considerations for the X49 and similar
spaceplane concepts. That is, whatever the 'buzz'-phrase you use -- we
are looking for artworks that illustrate the magnetic, electric,
electromagnetic, and electrodynamic concepts and systems that either
negate vehicle drag (friction), or provide propulsion, or both.

We are talking to Electric Spacecraft Journal, JLN Arda Labs, American
AntiGravity, and many others about tracking down and posting the many
ideas of electroaerodynamic flight systems illustrated or
conceptualized over the last few decades. For the most advanced, and
applicable to the X49 Spaceliner design, we will create dedicated
webpages for illustrating and explaining the concepts in detail. And we
will launch, immediately, a links page for our collaborators and other
websites related to ElectroAerodyamics.
The above graphic, ElectroDynamic X49 Aeroshell Drag Negation,
illustrates our first proposed system for achieving low or null drag.
Low or zero friction in the atmosphere. By electromagnetically
'fluxxing' the hull/body of the X49 FireShip -- we hope to 'push away'
the supersonic atmosphere envelope around the vehicle. That is,
'grease' the FireShip's aeroshell with a rapidly (high frequency)
oscillating electric field. [Imagine a RAPIDLY vibrating knife-blade
cutting through the atmosphere ...]
Again, we are looking for designers worldwide who want to comment
and critique this drag negation system. And help us in refining and
testing it. In chronicling and developing a variety of drag reducction
concepts, for publication. Systems that mulitiply the vehicle L/D,
lift-to-drag, from twenty or thirty, to perhaps 50 or 100 or 200!
ElectroAerodynamic designs that demonstrate the concept of null or zero
drag! 'Superconductivity' as applied to aircraft aerodynamic drag!!

And, we're not finished yet! A vortex, and a
FireShip, are 'living' systems that only function in HARMONY with
nature. All the design details have to fit, or none of them do!
This illustration of the 'perfect' matching of engine and aeroshell
vortices makes the point. And further illustrations, to come, will
refine it.
This view is of the nose of the X49 Electra ScramJet. She is coming
right at you! On the Starboard side, BOTH the ramjet injector AND the
vehicle aeroshell have to generate a CCW (counter clockwise) vortex.
These vortices grow together as the air approaches the aeroshell --
reach a maximum inside the ramjet tunnel and outside the X49 aeroshell
-- and dwindle away together in the trajectory wake. Exactly
co-propagating and co-aligned -- the Port side ramjet CW (clockwise)
vortex AND aeroshell vortices must also act in unison. Not only with
each other, but with the oppositely-swirling Starboard vortices which
mirror them!
The wavelengths and phases of all these vortices have to match, in
order to minimize the scramjet and aeroshell drag. Also, CCW starboard
and CW Port aeroshell vortices produce a negative pressure on the top
of the lifting body, and a positive pressure underneathe. Maximizing
our lift, another way to increase Lift-to-Drag! [In addition to our
electrodynamic systems for decreasing the drag!!]
And we KNOW there are GREAT vortex engineers in cyberland. Engineers
who are already getting involved, in focusing our designs and expanding
our team(s)!!!

Did we say we like art? !!!
We LOVE your creativity and connectivity. For the artists on our 'world
team' -- please follow your inspiration. And send us your contributions
of ink, colour, or composition. We will be posting and crediting and
linking many 'electric' spaceplane, scramjet, and scram-dirigible
designs in the months ahead. We want to include you in this revolution.
There is no better way to clarify, and motivate, and share, and 'fire'
a world! Numbers, equations, and words are part of the puzzle -- yet
the mind's eye, and the public eye -- play a thousand times greater
role. Like the transistor amplifier in your radio or stereo.
Let the celebrations begin!
